Elora tells you all about the nude fashion trend!
Elora decodes the nude trend!
04 DECEMBER 2019
Elora takes a look back at a trend that has been a staple for several years now, whatever the season: nude! Born in the 90s, the nude trend describes a certain return to naturalness. It's a colour code that first appeared in the world of make-up and then in fashion, but can now also be found in decorating trends!
50 shades of nude
In cosmetics, nude evokes a complexion with a bare skin effect, worked but natural. Transposed to fashion, it translates into a subtle monochrome of colours close to those of the skin. This is the first thing you need to know: a nude garment is not necessarily a beige garment! Nude suits all skin tones and comes in a wide range of colours: from chocolate and caramel to sandy beige and pale pink! It can also drift towards brighter, warmer shades: brick, camel, terracotta... These rather neutral, delicate shades have softness and sobriety in common.
Season after season, summer after winter, the nude trend persists and is a real must-have. The most important thing to remember about nude is that it's elegant, practical and timeless.
Nude is the new black!
In fact, because of its versatility, nude can be worn just like black, although it's much brighter and more feminine. Like black, it can be combined with many other colours and can be found in a wide range of basics, but also in shoes and fashion accessories (scarves, berets, hats, belts, glasses, jewellery...). In fact, the principle of nude is to go for the essential and the most natural look, without using too many colours.
How do you wear nude?
What are the nude codes? What styles can be combined with it? Elora gives you a few tips for adopting this trend without any false notes.
The total beige look
Nude can work perfectly in any season, but it's particularly appropriate in autumn and winter. With temperatures plummeting and the streets gradually being paved with pretty clusters of coloured leaves, it's the perfect opportunity to warm up your style by rolling out the beige total look, one of the big trends for 2019! That's the advantage of nude: it can be worn as a touch or as an all-over. The monochrome beige silhouette is a welcome change from the classic black winter total look, which is becoming less and less authoritative! The beige total look can be worn tone-on-tone or in varying shades of beige, even going as far as taupe or camel.
Nude loves patterns! Animal prints (leopard, python, tiger, zebra...) go well with beige and nude in general. With a total monochrome look, don't hesitate to play with shapes, varying them and layering them. For example, you could combine a slightly oversized piece (a jumper or coat) with something closer to the body.
Tone on tone
It's not always easy to dare tone on tone! But as long as you follow a few simple rules, nude remains a safe bet, whether for a daytime look or an evening outfit!
Nude has the real power tobrighten up andharmonise a silhouette. But its minimalism can also quickly become boring. So, to avoid dullness, you need to have fun with materials and dare to make daring combinations! You'll also need to contrast your look with a brighter or neutral colour: nude loves grey in particular. And it goes really well with jeans, either light or faded! With a simple, casual outfit, you can add colour with an original, imposing piece. For a more chic, sophisticated look, think accessories!
One last tip: shoes (particularly patent pumps) that really match the colour of your skin will elongate your legs and your figure!
