Our wardrobe tips for looking good all the time
How can I make sure I'm always well dressed?
16 APRIL 2020
Have you noticed that some women always look well-dressed? Whatever the place, time of day or season, they always look their best. Knowing how to dress well is an art that anyone can master, as long as they know a few basic rules. Here are our tips.
Tip number 1: Well-cut clothes
Tailored, well-cut clothes are the key to a smart outfit. Each piece of clothing that makes up your outfit must be perfectly adapted to your size and shape, so as to enhance your silhouette.
Always choose your clothes carefully: they should be neither too tight nor too big. Always take the time to try on your clothes before buying them to find the cut that suits you best.
- Tops should fall perfectly over your shoulders, follow the shape of your bust and show you off without wrinkles.
- Stockings should follow the curves of your legs and buttocks, without constricting them or being too loose.
Tip 2: Quality clothes
There's no need to invest in a lot of clothes to look good: it's better to build a minimalist wardrobe made up of a few quality basics and a few original pieces.
- For the basics: shirt or blouse, straight or slim jeans, blazer, carrot or cigarette trousers, denim dress, pencil skirt, trendy flats or heels will go with everything.
- To add a touch of originality and create a unique style, opt for prints and colours. For example, try a tropical print blouse, flowing trousers with palm fronds, saffron yellow slim-fit trousers, or an ethnic print scarf.
Tip number 3: the right mix of colours
If you want to look good, you also need to know how to dose colours and put together harmonious outfits. Elegance is often synonymous with balance and sobriety. To avoid colour excess, we recommend combining one or two basic colours (white, black, navy blue, beige, etc.) with a stronger shade. You can also combine a strong colour in several shades, for a cameo look. The golden rule: don't go beyond 3 colours when putting together your outfits.
And remember: the colour of your make-up and jewellery counts too! You can simply spice up a sober outfit with a pink or bright red lipstick, a flashy manicure, or a very eye-catching piece of jewellery.
Tip number 4: the third piece trick
This is a tip from your dress coach: don't be afraid to layer! Simply wearing a trendy jacket, blazer, kimono or even an open shirt over your top will enhance your look and make it more dressy.
Easy to pull off in summer, the third-piece trick can also be applied in winter. For example, you could wear a perfecto, jacket or blazer under your open coat. You'll realise just how much a third layer adds to the look of your silhouette.
While the ability to always look good is based on these 4 main rules, don't forget that style is also a question of attitude. Be comfortable in your clothes and wear pieces that reflect who you are so you can be sure you'll always look good, whatever the circumstances!
