You don't need any qualifications to become a home sales assistant. That's one of the advantages of this profession. It's accessible to all women who want to supplement their income or make a living from their passion.

1 - Outgoing and sociable
If you want to become a VDI, it's best to be outgoing and sociable! You need to be comfortable organising sales meetings with several people, speaking in front of an audience, finding new customers and recruiting hostesses. What's more, the more friendly and smiling you are, the more likely you are to attract new customers and retain your existing ones.
2 - A good listener and teacher
To understand your customers' needs and give them the best advice on their choices, you need to be a good listener. More than ever, home shopping customers are looking for human interaction. They want to be listened to and given personal advice. What's more, teaching is very important if you want to get your message across in a non-aggressive way.
3 - Enthusiastic and passionate
As well as knowing the products you're selling, you need to believe in them to convince your customers! That's why it's so important to work with a brand that shares your values and offers collections that match your tastes.
The more enthusiastic you are, the more your customers will be convinced. There's no need to force their hand if you yourself are convinced that your products are quality.
4 - Organised and conscientious
Being a home-based sales assistant requires you to be organised when it comes to planning and organising your days. You have to manage your home sales, your customers' orders and requests, the recruitment of hostesses, your social networks and all the administrative side of things. Your diary, order book, email inbox and to-do list will be your best allies in keeping you organised.
5 - Optimistic and persevering
As a VDI, you're often on your own to manage your business, and you're bound to go through more difficult periods. It's easy to get discouraged in the face of obstacles... So you need to be optimistic and persistent to get back on your feet and adopt the right strategy to boost your sales.
